Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina has targeted that the Cepu Gas Block in the border area between East Java and Central Java will began to distribute gas in 2015, a Pertamina official said.

Pertamina Upstream Director M Husen said here on Friday that PT Pertamina EP Ceput had been assigned to operate the gas block.

"In order to follow the government`s suggestion, we are moving forward the schedule of the Cepu gas field development to produce in 2015," Husen said after the heads of agreement (HOA) signing between PT Pertamina EP Cepu, Mobil Cepu Ltd and Ampolex (Ceput) Pte Lted here on Friday.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Darwin Saleh and Director General for Oil and Gas Evita Legowo.

Minister Darwin hoped that the operators would develop the two gas fields soon so that they could be utilized by the domestic market soon.

"We hope that after the signing of the HOA the gas would soon be produced so that the domestic market could use it soon," the minister said.

The Jimbarang field which is located in the Cepu Block and 45 percent belong to PT Pertamina EP Cepu, 45 percent owned by Amplex (Cepu) Pte Ltedwned and 10 percent by a regional government-owned firm (BUMD).

Pertamina Spokesman M Harun said the two gas fields had a reserve of 1.1 trillion cubic feet. Production is expected to reach 200 million cubic feet per day.

The gas will be sold to Pertamina before being used for power generators of the state-owned power firm PLN and for the state-owned fertilizer company PT Petrokimia Gresik.(*)
