Mahad Aly boarding school needs standardization

Jakarta  (ANTARA News) - Religious Affairs Minister Suryadharma Ali said that the Mahad Aly High Islamic Institution needed standardization so that its educational system would become more guaranteed.

The minister made the remarks in his public lecturer to new students of the Mahad Aly Sa`idusshidiqiyah at the Religious Affairs Ministry here on Thursday.

Suryadharma Ali who is also chairman of the institution`s board of curators and the Assidiqiyah Boarding School Foundation, said with the standardization the people would be well informed of its literature taught at the institution.

A total of 513 students attended the minister`s public lecture. The minister explained the birth of Mahad Aly in a number of boarding schools.

Mahad Aly was born at boarding schools to answer the increasing need for preachers. The increasing need was reflected in the big number of students coming from various segments of society at the institution, the minister said.

That was why, he said, the boarding schools already had institutional educations in the form of ibtidaiyah, tsanawiah and aliyah (elementary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools).

He said that the management of the boarding schools wanted that the studies of students who had been graduated would have continuation at higher levels.

In essence, the minister said, they established the Mahad Aly with further deepened Islamic studies, the minister said.
