Jambi`s trade surplus down 20.73 pct

Jambi (ANTARA News) - Jambi province`s trade surplus in June 2011 fell 20.73 percent to US$110.36 million from US$139.22 million a month earlier.

Head of the Jambi Statistics Office Akhmad Jaelani said here on Wednesday US$24.88 million of Jambi`s trade surplus in June 2011 came from its trade with Japan, US$18.01 million with Singapore, and US$14.48 million with Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Jambi in June 2011 recorded a deficit of US$129.34 thousand in its trade with Australia, US$7.11 million with the US, US$2.43 million with Taiwan and US$2.96 million with China, he said.

Cumulatively, Jambi`s trade surplus in the January-June 2011 period reached US$966 million, Jaelani said.

Jambi`s exports in June 2011 dropped 39.92 percent to US$121.80 million from US$202.75 million in May 2011, bringing to US$1,072.05 million the exports in the first semester of 2011. Meanwhile, the export volume in the January-June 2011 period reached 2,313.96 thousand tons.

Exports from industrial products fell 35.24 percent and mining products plunged 61.20 percent in June 2011. However, exports from the agricultural sector rose 3.08 percent.

Jambi`s imports in June 2011 were valued at US$11.44 million, down 81.99 percent from a month earlier. Meanwhile, the volume of imports in June also dropped to 15.36 thousand tons.
