Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Britain`s Queen Elizabeth II has invited President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to visit the United Kingdom, a presidential spokesperson said here Wednesday.
The invitation was conveyed to the president by the new British ambassador to Indonesia, Mark Canning, when the letter presented his credentials at the presidential palace.
Tengku Faizasyah, presidential spokesperson on international relations, said the president still needed to find a suitable timeline for meeting the British queen`s invitation.
Ambassador Canning expressed hope the president could fulfill the queen`s invitation to visit England in the near future.
Canning also appreciated the good bilateral relationship which had been maintained between his country and Indonesia all this time.
On the occasion the president also congratulated and thanked Ambassador Canning and five other foreign envoys newly assigned to serve in Indonesia.
Apart from Canning, the five new ambassadors who presented their credentials to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Wednesday were North Korea`s Ri Jong Ryul, Poland`s Brigadier-General Grzegorz Wisniewski, Italy`s Federico Failla, Suriname`s Titi Amina Pardi, and Brazil`s Paulo Alberto da Silveira Soares.
"The president also underlined that he will use the opportunity to strengthen the bilateral relationship which had been good so far to be improved again, and also to seek new cooperation opportunities," said Faizasyah.
Besides with Britain, President Yudhoyono also discussed cooperation opportunities with the five other countries.
President also expressed Indonesia`s readiness to facilitate peace between North Korea and South Korea.
On the occasion Polish Ambassador Brigadier-General Grzegorz Wisniewski expressed his country`s readiness to cooperate in various sectors such as economy, trade, and defense industries.
The ambassadors of Italy, Suriname, and Brazil also appreciated and expressed their commitment to further enhance the good cooperation already existing between their respective countries and Indonesia.
